Thursday 27th September in London saw yet another big event! Another happy moment for all of us to cherish. The GS Power Series Law Special in conjunction with one of the top global law firms Dentons UK and Middle East LLP. It brought together 150 attendees (dream hunters) alongside senior leaders in law.
Generation Success is a not-for-profit organization founded upon the principle that one’s career and professional potential should not be limited and hindered by their birth. Founder James Adeleke built Generation Success from the rubble and debris, which covered the streets of London following the riots in the summer of 2011. James speaks of how the tabloids ceaseless labeling of today’s youths as being a “lost generation” inspired him to create a generation of success.
GS Power Series Law Special was a brilliant opportunity for James and the team to interact with all the attendees and discover their diverse dreams, and how he can help them achieve it. James’ motivational vigor, warm personality and genuine desire to aid and better lives shone through on the evening.
The event started with Speed Mentoring. Connecting mentors and mentees together for one hour of mentoring. It was then followed by an introduction from our Founder Mr.James Adeleke and later geared up with a series of speeches from guests of honours-
Deba Das,(Partner,Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer)
Sir Ernest Ryder (Senior President of Tribunals,SPT)
Hammad Akhtar (Head of Corporate,Pinsent Masons LLP )
Richard Meeran ( Partner at Leigh Day )
Sadiq Ali (Real Estage Paralegal , Eversheds Sutherlands LLP)
Neil Blundell ( Partner at Macfarlanes )
Wonu Sanda ( Associate Solicitor, CM Murray LLP )
Chay Naik of Seth Lovis & Co Solicitors
Amanda Lee FCIArb
Each of them shared their personal success stories, along with skills and attributes that have helped them thrive professionally within their profession. They took questions from the attendees and addressed it articulately leaving the attendees wanting for more. They spoke highly about Generation Success in their own way. They championed our cause and spoke of how it acts as a perfect example of ways to drive change in society.
The sessions focused on the profession, future developments as well as skills needed for an evolving legal services market. They spoke on next steps needed to further improve diversity in the legal sector. Each of them took the podium to pledge their support and loyalty towards Generation Success whilst reminding our audience that their dreams are never out of reach. We presented our guest speakers with certificates for their valuable contribution.
After the last speech, attendees were welcomed to the networking area to chat over refreshing drinks and nibbles. It was an opportunity to interact with one another whilst enjoying the beautiful sights that Dentons UK and Middle East LLP office has to offer.
Celebrating diversity and championing inclusion is integral to Generation Success. The aim of GS events is to bring together career dream hunters and mentors to build meaningful connections. Generation Success reflects a commitment to ensure we continuously support an individual’s career aspiration and progression which should not be disadvantaged by their background.
It was yet another well-organized event delivered by Generation Success topped by an excellent blend of speakers and topics which maintained the interest throughout the evening. We understand what a graduate want from an event and we know how to deliver. Much like our resources, our events represent the best of what we all wished we had when we were in your shoes, including education, best practices and networking opportunities.
We would like to say a special thank you to our mentors.
